April 28: Saint Thomas Health Provides Free Medical, Dental And Vision Care For The Uninsured And Underinsured In Tennessee

Saint Thomas Health will host a free healthcare clinic at Holloway High School in Murfreesboro on Saturday, April 28, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saint Thomas Health is a part of Ascension, the nation's largest Catholic and non-profit health system.

The Saint Thomas Health Medical Mission at Home is partnering with 15 community organizations to provide free medical care including pharmacy services, dental services, mammography screening, vision services, foot and wound care, lab services, and behavioral medicine. More than 300 volunteers from Saint Thomas Health, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, chaplains, senior leaders and other hospital staff, will participate. "Our Medical Missions at Home are a response to the community needs, as many Middle Tennesseans are uninsured or underinsured and need access to affordable healthcare," said Gordon Ferguson, President and CEO of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and President of Saint Thomas Regional Hospitals. "Saint Thomas Health is honored to offer free healthcare services to our community, and we are extremely grateful for the compassionate care provided by our associate and provider volunteers."

Since 2008, Saint Thomas Health has hosted more than 30 Medical Missions at Home in multiple locations throughout Middle Tennessee, including over 20,000 patient encounters for those who are most in need. Saint Thomas Health will also host a Medical Mission at Home in Warren County on July 28, 2018, and in Nashville on September 22, 2018. Information about upcoming medical missions can be found here.

The Ascension Medical Mission at Home is an annual national network of free healthcare clinics for the uninsured and underinsured, and led by Ascension caregivers and partners. Ascension Medical Mission at Home clinics have been held in Tennessee, Washington, D.C., New York, Alabama, Florida, Connecticut,

Indiana and Texas, with plans to expand to more states and locations in the future.
