Last month, Community Health Systems, Inc. announced completion of the sale of 103-bed Weatherford Regional Medical Center in Weatherford, Texas, and its associated assets to subsidiaries of HCA Healthcare. The transaction, one of 30 planned hospital divestitures discussed in CHS' second quarter 2017 earnings call, had an effective date of Oct. 1, 2017. A few days earlier, CHS announced divestiture of five Pennsylvania hospitals and their associated assets to subsidiaries of Reading Health System had also been completed.

Brentwood-based QualDerm Partners recently announced the acquisition of two dermatology practices in North Carolina. Under the partnership agreements, QualDerm will provide both practices with management support, guidance and capital to expand their services. This latest move brings QualDerm to a network of 15 practices across North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Ohio with plans to expand into other regions by year-end.
