Joshua Trantum, PhD

Last month, Cumberland Emerging Technologies, Inc. (CET) appointed Joshua Trantum, PhD as CET's development director. In addition to sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating new biopharmaceutical product and technology opportunities, he will also contribute to the management, support, and expansion of CET's university collaborations.

Previously, Trantum was manager of engineering projects at Vanderbilt's Biomedical Engineering department where he led a team of 20 researchers supported by a $5 million global health diagnostics grant funded by the Gates Foundation. Trantum earned his undergraduate, master's and doctorate degrees in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt and also holds a MBA from Emory University. While earning his doctorate, he co-invented a novel rapid diagnostic technology for which patents are pending.
