Who:

The Greater Nashville American Heart Association in collaboration with Ascension Saint Thomas Health

What:

A free health event empowering women to better understand their risk for heart disease and stroke. Health screenings will be provided, along with other celebratory activities like a Zen Den, photo booth, music and a complimentary lunch for the first 50 guests.

Why:

Because there's power in numbers. There's power when women come together and there's power in knowing your health numbers.

In support of National Wear Red Day, 'Power In Numbers' intends to serve as a voice for those who fight against the number one and number five health threats of all women: heart disease and stroke. Taking the lives of one in three women - cardiovascular diseases force us to consider that a woman we know and love may be affected at any age. While cardiovascular diseases kill nearly 1 woman every 80 seconds, 80 percent of these cases may be prevented with education and action.

Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women and advocates for more research and swifter action for women's heart health.

One of the main priorities at Saint Thomas Health is ensuring women have the necessary access to care and educational information to remain heart healthy.

Go Red for Women is sponsored locally by Saint Thomas Health.
