The Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) has awarded $5,000 in grant funding to Mental Health America of the MidSouth (MHA) to help fund their Aging and Alzheimer's Services program, which provides quality education and support to family members of those living with Alzheimer's and other dementia-related illnesses in Middle and West Tennessee.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently announced Tennessee is one of 10 states to receive the Maternal Opioid Misuse (MOM) Model grant to assist states in combating the nation's opioid crisis and address fragmentation in the care of pregnant and postpartum Medicaid beneficiaries with opioid use disorder (OUD). The Division of TennCare will partner with Vanderbilt University Medical Center as part of the MOM program focusing on 26 rural and urban counties to improve the outcomes for women with opioid use disorder and their infants beginning in pregnancy and extending to one year postpartum. The grant amount is approximately $5.3 million for a five-year performance period beginning January 2020.

Governor Bill Lee joined in the announcement of a three-year, $1 million grant from the United Health Foundation to HOPE Family Health in Sumner County. The funding will be used to add clinical pharmacy services within the primary care setting. The innovative new program will address drug adherence issues, provide ongoing medication management, help avoid potential drug interactions, improve patient health literacy about their medications and increase provider efficiency.

Saint Thomas Medical Partners (STMP) was recently awarded two grants to support Our Mission in Motion (OMIM). A $15,000 grant was awarded by The Memorial Foundation to directly fund 149 free mammograms to women in need across Northeastern Davidson, Sumner, and Robertson counties. A $12,446 grant awarded by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will fund 90 free screening mammograms to women in need across Bedford, Coffee, and Warren counties.
