Saint Thomas Medical Partners Signs Noted Neurosurgeon

Saint Thomas Medical Partners, part of the Ascension Tennessee ministry Saint Thomas Health, has announced Oran Aaronson, MD, has joined the group as part of the Howell Allen Clinic practice effective Jan. 1.

Aaronson, who previously served as medical director of the Vanderbilt Spine Center, received his medical degree from The Medical College of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, University of London. He completed his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), serving as neurosurgery chief resident in 2003 and 2004, and completed his Masters of Management in Health Care at Vanderbilt Owen. Aaronson served on the faculty of VUMC in the department of neurosurgery since 2004 and was the residency program director for neurosurgery from 2010 through 2015. Additionally, he served as chief of neurosurgery at the Nashville Veterans Administration Hospital from 2004 through 2014.

An active researcher and author, Aaronson has participated in or led research protocols in neurosurgery for more than 20 years.
