Metro Nashville

Heading into the weekend, Nashville reported 2,832 confirmed cases, an increase of 163 in the 24 hours since Mayor John Copper extended the county's safer-at-home order until May 8. The death count for Nashville rose to 27, an increase of two since yesterday. Additionally, it was reported 1,466 Nashvillians have recovered from the virus. The rate of positive results from testing crept back up to 10.6 percent.


Tennessee State

On Friday, the state reported 11,891 confirmed cases, a jump of 1,156 cases* in 24 hours. Number of deaths rose to 204 (increase of 5 since yesterday) with 1,113 hospitalizations (up 68 in 24 hours) and 5,546 recovered (an increase of 208 since Thursday). Currently, the state's known hospitalization rate is 9.36 percent of cases with deaths totaling right at 1.7 percent of reported cases.

Davidson and Shelby counties lead state case counts, by far. There are also significant numbers of cases in the Nashville MSA with Sumner County reporting 632 cases, Rutherford reporting 502, Williamson reporting 416 andWilson reporting 259.

Nearby, Trousdale County* reports 1,020 cases after more than 800 of the state's daily case increase was linked to an outbreak at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center. In the wake of the number of positives at the prison, Governor Bill Lee has announced all inmates statewide will be tested for COVID-19.

Additionally, the state has now tested 186,132 Tennesseans, an increase of 8,506 tests since yesterday. Drive-through testing will be available again this coming weekend, May 2-3. A list of sites opened on Saturday and Sunday (which vary) is available here.
