Less than five months after Capella and RegionalCare Hospital Partners joined forces to form RCCH HealthCare Partners, former Capella head Michael Wiechart stepped down from his role as president and CEO of the new company. Veteran local healthcare executive Marty Rash, who founded RegionalCare, has stepped in as president and CEO ... in addition to his role as chairman ... of the merged 17-hospital enterprise across 12 states.
"We have been focused on finding the best ways to integrate and operate as efficiently and effectively as possible," Rash said in a statement. "There have been discussions since the beginning of the company about Mike staying through the integration before exploring other career interests. We have now reached a point in the integration process where it was mutually determined it is the right time for this change."
Rash previously led the former Province Healthcare and was also COO of Community Health Systems before forming RegionalCare in 2009.
