Vanderbilt Translational Research Forum, an annual celebration of the “translation” of scientific discovery into clinical practice, will be held Oct. 21 at the Vanderbilt University Student Life Center.

The daylong event begins at 8 a.m. with a poster session that allows students and investigators in health research at Vanderbilt University, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Meharry Medical College to present their research, gain valuable feedback and compete for prizes.

Afterward, the mentoring and service awards will be presented. This year’s recipients are:

The last award recognizes mentors who help five or more investigators establish independent careers.

Following a buffet luncheon, the keynote address will be given by Enrique Schisterman, PhD, a national leader in reproductive epidemiology and epidemiological methods at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, where he is chair and Perelman Professor of the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics.

Before concluding at 4 p.m., the forum also will feature plenary sessions on a wide range of translational research given by 14 VUMC faculty members.
