Tennesseans can enroll or re-enroll in quality, affordable health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace when the fourth open-enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act begins on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and Tennessee Titans players will mark the launch of open enrollment with an event on Tuesday Nov. 1 from 1:00 - 4:00pm at East Park Community Center, 600 Woodland St. Tennessee Titans linebacker David Bass will be in attendance from 2:30- 3:30pm.

During the open-enrollment period, which runs from Nov. 1 to Jan. 31, uninsured Nashville residents will be able to enter the Health Insurance Marketplace and select plans that fit their needs and budgets. People who currently have coverage through the Marketplace should check the website to learn about new options and ensure they are getting the correct amount of financial help. With Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare pulling out of this market, members of those plans can choose a similar plan with another carrier. If these consumers haven't picked a plan by November 15, the Marketplace will enroll them in a comparable plan, and they will receive a letter from CMS about their new plan.

The Get Covered Tennessee Navigator Consortium is urging Tennesseans to check out Affordable Care Act plans. In the last enrollment period, over 269,000 Tennessee residents enrolled in health coverage through the Marketplace. This coming open-enrollment period is the next opportunity Nashville residents have to take advantage of the coverage options available through the Marketplace.

"We encourage everyone to look at all healthcare options in the upcoming enrollment period," said Sandy Dimick, program director of the Get Covered Tennessee Navigator Consortium. "Our navigators offer free enrollment assistance, in all counties across Tennessee, to meet face-to-face with consumers, answer questions and help them make the best coverage decision for them and their families."

Tennesseans can find free navigator assistance, available in their communities by calling 1-844-644-5443 or visiting http://www.getcoveredtenn.org.
