Robin Williams, MD, was recently installed as the president of the Nashville Academy of Medicine (NAM), the first African American woman to be elected to lead the state's oldest medical society. She is a breast surgeon with Saint Thomas Medical Partners, the former president of Tennessee Women in Medicine, a two-year term as board chair for the Medical Foundation of Nashville, and a past Nashville Medical News Women to Watch honoree.
At the installation dinner, Williams said, "NAM is 2,300 strong, and that number is powerful. With our collective voices, this is the year of opportunity. I just want to say thank you for allowing me to be your voice this year."
Immediate Past-President V. Seenu Reddy, MD, MBA, FACS with TriStar Medical Group Cardiovascular Surgery will serve as board chair for 2020, and Nicole Schlechter, MD, with Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital has been named president-elect.
