1 in 3 people who die of heart attacks have no warning. Do you know your heart attack risk?

Even if you have no symptoms and think you’re doing everything right, a heart attack could be heading your way. That is why TriStar Health has launched a free, interactive online personal health risk questionnaire that will help individuals understand their potential for cardiovascular problems.

Visitors start by going on-line to TriStarHealth.com/MyHeartRisk and answering questions about family history, cholesterol, blood pressure, lifestyle habits and more.  At the end of the survey, participants receive an immediate personalized report that indicates if they are at a low, moderate, or high risk for developing heart disease.

Each participant is encouraged to take the results report with them to their next appointment with their healthcare provider. Participants showing more worrisome risk profiles, or who are having current heart attack symptoms, are asked to call 9-1-1 or to go the nearest emergency room.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Coronary heart disease, which often appears as a heart attack, causes about one of every five deaths.  Approximately every 25 seconds, an American will suffer a coronary event, and about every minute someone will die from one.

“Many people don’t understand their risks until they suffer a heart attack,” said Jeffrey Guy, MD, chief medical officer at TriStar Health. “This free risk assessment was developed to help uncover heart problems. Heart disease and strokes are very much preventable. It’s important to understand your risk for cardiovascular disease and how to prevent it before a debilitating event occurs. Taking the initiative to know your risk is the first step. TriStar Health’s free online heart risk assessment is an efficient and effective way to avert a potential crisis situation.”
