Awards, Honors, Achievements

Celebrating 40 years of service in the Nashville area, Neighborhood Health held its first Recognition Breakfast event to honor the contributions of four individuals credited with helping found the network of community health centers: Robert Bone, MD, attorney Irwin Venick, Eric Chazen, MD, and healthcare leader Kathleen Krenek. Mayor Megan Barry was guest speaker at the event, which was held at Belmont University.

TriStar Centennial Medical Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center have both made Becker's Hospital Review's 2016 edition of "100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs." In addition, MissionPoint Health Partners was named to Becker's 2016 "Top 100 ACOs to Know."

In other lists, Middle Tennessee was well represented on Modern Healthcare's annual list of "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare 2016." Honorees from the area were Milton Johnson, HCA (6); Wayne Smith, Community Health Systems (23); Bill Carpenter, LifePoint Health (56); and Jonathan Perlin, MD, HCA (78).


John Dreyzehner

When the next president of the United States takes office, he or she will need accurate, timely information about public health and healthcare. Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH, has been selected by the National Academy of Medicine to be one of those providing information through the Vital Directions for Health and Health Care initiative. Dreyzehner was selected to be a part of the panel discussing Better Health and Well-Being.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving recently announced its "2016 Legislators of the Year" to recognize the leadership of 10 Tennessee lawmakers to try to put a stop to drunk driving. Senator Kerry Roberts and Representatives William Lamberth and Joe Pitts were recognized from Middle Tennessee. End Slavery Tennessee also honored state lawmaker Senator Bill Ketron, presenting him with the 2016 Human Trafficking Impact Award in recognition of his work in protecting the children of Tennessee.

Elliott Davis Decosimo (#29) LBMC (#46), and Horne (#49) have been recognized among the largest accounting firms in the U.S. by INSIDE Public Accounting on the annual IPA 100 list, which ranks accounting firms nationwide based on net revenue and evaluates various accounting industry benchmarks. The four largest firms - Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young and KPMG - all have offices in Nashville, as well.

Nashville's Home Care Solutions recently earned a 4-star rating in patient satisfaction as part of CMS' Five-Star Quality Rating System.
