Envision Healthcare, a leading national medical group, announced today that it is deploying 80 clinicians to El Paso and Lubbock, Texas, to provide additional clinical support and expertise as these communities and the state face a surge in COVID-19 patients. The multispecialty team of emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers and certified registered nurse anesthetists, will care for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Envision clinicians are voluntarily deploying to Texas to join Envision's approximately 4,000 local physicians and advanced practice providers who are providing care for patients in communities across the state every day. Earlier this year, Envision clinicians supported Texas and Louisiana during and after hurricanes Delta and Laura. The medical group's deployment to Texas is in direct response to the anticipated third wave of COVID-19 cases that have exceeded 1 million in Texas. Envision's team of deployed clinicians will provide relief for caregivers and healthcare facilities in the El Paso and Lubbock communities.
"Envision clinicians continue to answer America's urgent call for care during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mansoor Khan, MD, MHA, who leads Envision's ENVOY travel team, which deploys at a moment's notice to support national emergencies. "From the start of this unprecedented public health crisis, Envision has rapidly deployed clinicians to treat patients in COVID-19 hot spots throughout the country. We will be there for patients for as long as it takes, providing quality care guided by our clinical expertise and best practices. We all must work together to care for patients and protect our communities from the devastating impacts of this pandemic."
Since the start of the pandemic, Envision's more than 25,000 clinicians have been on the frontlines caring for patients. The medical group has hundreds of clinicians who have volunteered to travel to communities hit hardest by the pandemic, including New York, New Jersey, Florida, Arizona and Texas. Envision's dedicated clinicians will remain on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response in Texas and across the nation while treating all patients in communities large and small. In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and keep communities safe, Envision is urging the public to keep holiday gatherings to their immediate households, wear a mask in public, maintain at least six feet of distance from people, wash their hands, avoid large gatherings and stay home when feeling sick.
