The Nashville Medical Society was the first medical association in Tennessee, founded on March 5, 1821, by seven physicians: Drs. Felix Robertson (president), James Roane (secretary), Boyd McNairy, Adam Gibbs Goodlett, James Overton, John Waters, and R.A. Higginbotham.
