Nashville Training More Bilingual Interpreters

Critically needed and federally mandated medical interpreters will now be trained by a partnership between charter school network STEM Preparatory Academy and Sanchez-Vega Communications, LLC. The 64-hour instruction, which launched on Feb. 20, runs via Zoom for 16 weeks to train bilingual individuals to become qualified healthcare and education interpreters. A United Nations model gateway, Nashville is home to a myriad of international communities who speak languages as widespread as Spanish, and as rare as Nuer.

"As a highly trained leader in education and healthcare interpreting, it is gratifying to see this initiative finally take hold in Nashville," said Diana Sanchez-Vega. "Our organization continues to see the positive impact of maximizing bilingual human resources to increase both health and education outcomes, not just locally, but regionally and even nationally, thanks to our now 'highly remote-operating' society."
