Another day ... another 600 cases in Nashville. The mayor has announced a return to Phase 2 of the reopening plan in light of the large case numbers that have been reported (and rising) over the past week.

Metro Nashville

Nashville reports 10,756 cases, a jump of 608 in 24 hours. There are currently 3,172 active cases in Nashville, 7,473 individuals who have recovered, and 111 deaths (an addition of 3 since yesterday).

In Davidson County, 98,452 tests have been administered with a positive rate of 10.9% (up from 10.7 on July 1 and 9.4% on June 1).

On the trend lines, hospital ICU capacity has returned to green (along with testing, hospital floor beds and public health capacity), and transmission rates remain in the yellow. However, the 14-day case trend has tumbled into the red.
Masks are now required in Nashville (although there is a fairly long list of exceptions to the mandate). In addition to wearing a mask, public health officials ask residents to continue social distancing measures, go out as little as possible, wash hands frequently and stay home if ill.

Tennessee State

As of this afternoon, the state had confirmed 46,890 cases, an increase of 1,575 since yesterday. Tennessee has recorded 620 deaths (up 11 in 24 hours). There have been 2,775 hospitalizations across Tennessee (up 60 in 24 hours) and 28,938 recovered (an increase of 655 in 24 hours). A total of 838,084 Tennesseans have been tested for COVID-19 (an increase of 20,562 since yesterday).

The statewide death rate remains at 1.3 percent, down from 1.46 last week and from 1.6 for much of the five weeks prior to that.
