Valerie Oliver, MBA, CPA, has been named assistant commissioner for Administrative Services for the Tennessee Department of Health. She had previously served as department controller for TDH since April 2015 and was TDH fiscal director prior to that.

In her role as assistant commissioner, Oliver will oversee all operations of the TDH Division of Administrative Services, leading and directing preparation of the TDH annual budget of $620 million, along with supervising staff members in several departments including budget, accounts management, procurement, facilities management and more.

Before joining TDH, Oliver served as fiscal director for the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance and for the Tennessee Department of Correction. She earned her undergraduate accounting degree from Lipscomb and her MBA from Tennessee State University and is a certified public accountant.
