On Friday, Feb. 2, Saint Thomas Health leadership joined the American Heart Association at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital to 'Go Red for Women' on National Wear Red Day. Babies born at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital were outfitted in red hats in support of National Wear Red Day.

"At Saint Thomas Health, we care for women throughout their lives, and a priority for supporting their wellbeing is educating women about heart health," said Saint Thomas Health Chief Nursing Officer Amy Wilson. "By bringing awareness to the signs of heart disease and helping women establish relationships with healthcare providers, we're empowering our female patients to better care for themselves and remain heart healthy."

Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association's national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. Cardiovascular diseases in the United States kills approximately one in three women, but 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. Go Red for Women advocates for more research and swifter action for women's heart health.
