Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance Expands Practice with Addition of Six New Physicians

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance (TOA), one of the largest orthopaedic practices in the southeast, is pleased to announce the addition of six orthopaedic surgeons to its extensive network of providers, including TOA's first orthopaedic trauma surgeon.

Brad M. Askam, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in orthopaedic trauma. Dr. Askam provides comprehensive fracture care of the upper extremity (shoulder, humerus, elbow, forearm, wrist, clavicle), lower extremity (hip, femur, knee, tibia, fibula, ankle, foot, calcaneus, and talus), pelvis, and acetabulum. Dr. Askam also treats complications related to fractures including nonunion, malunion, infection, and osteomyelitis. He sees patients that are acutely injured in the emergency department setting, as well as outpatient referrals. Dr. Askam will begin seeing patients at TOA's Murfreesboro location beginning September 10, 2018.

Dr. Abiola A. Atanda is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. He is highly interested in the surgical care to people who have experienced degenerative disease, deformity, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniation, trauma, tumors, and infections affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral regions of the spine. Dr. Atanda will begin seeing patients at TOA's Murfreesboro location beginning September 4, 2018.

Daniel J. Burval, M.D. is a fellowship-trained, board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spine. He received extensive training in spinal and orthopedic surgery at the renowned Cleveland Clinic, as well as during his fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Spinal Disorders at OrthoIndy in Indianapolis. At OrthoIndy, he trained under Dr. Terry Trammell who has provided spinal care for all Indy Car drivers since 1984 until retiring in 2014. Dr. Burval began seeing patients at TOA's Gallatin, Hendersonville and Skyline locations on August 6, 2018.

Michael T. Cain, M.D. is a fellowship-trained, orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, specifically, arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder, and he treats general orthopaedic conditions, including fracture care and joint replacement. Dr. Cain will see patients at TOA's Clarksville location beginning September 4, 2018.

Lucas K. Routh, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgery. Dr. Routh is specialized in the direct anterior approach to the hip, as well as the posterior and direct lateral approaches. Dr. Routh performs minimally invasive, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement surgery and also has an interest in performing outpatient, same-day hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Routh began seeing patients at TOA's Murfreesboro and Smyrna locations on August 13, 2018.

Ryan D. Snowden, M.D. is a fellowship-trained, orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. Dr. Snowden completed an Orthopaedic Surgical residency at the University of Kentucky Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine where he was a recipient of the Thomas D. Brewer Visiting Professor Presentation Award. He completed his Spine Surgery fellowship with the Indiana Spine Group, focusing on complex cervical and lumbar deformity as well as all other aspects of spine surgery. Dr. Snowden will see patients at TOA's Franklin, Mt. Juliet and OneC1TY locations beginning August 27, 2018.
