Tristar Summit Medical Center Announces Vito Capotorto, MD as New Chief Medical Officer

Vito A. Capotorto, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer (CMO) of TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tenn. In this role, he will serve as the quality and clinical strategist responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the hospital and medical staff. He most recently served as Medical Director at HCA Healthcare's Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

"Dr. Capotorto's clinical and leadership experience will be a tremendous benefit for our patients as we continue to focus on providing exceptional patient care closer to home for our community."

Dr. Capotorto will work closely with the medical staff to help coordinate and implement quality initiatives and practice standards that produce high-quality clinical outcomes for our patients. Having a lifelong passion for evidence-based practice guidelines, Dr. Capotorto will partner with the hospital's medical staff to prioritize quality improvement opportunities through data analysis and the implementation of best practices.

Dr. Capotorto has more than 30 years of experience in the medical field. He received his medical degree from the University of Bologna Medical School, Italy, followed by his residency at Staten Island University Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics.
