Unity Psychiatric Care, a division of Franklin, Tennessee-based American Health Partners, has named Philip Cook division vice president of hospital operations.

Cook will oversee operations for Unity Psychiatric Care's five hospitals in Clarksville, Columbia, Martin and Memphis, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama. The hospitals specialize in compassionate and stabilizing care for seniors dealing with an acute mental health crisis, as well as behavioral complications from dementia. Treatment services include a comprehensive health and psychiatric evaluation, medication assessment, nutrition evaluation, pain assessment, therapeutic activities and educational support.

"Philip has led operations for a number of psychiatric hospitals in the Southeast and brings a wealth of experience to his new role," said American Health Partners' CEO Michael Bailey. "His skills building teams and developing systems will further our mission to provide compassionate, high quality healthcare and outstanding service that enhances patient well-being and exceeds customer expectations."

Cook joins Unity Psychiatric Care from UltraGroup Healthcare, LLC, where he was director of inpatient services. In addition to management oversight, Cook's responsibilities included conducting market analysis and feasibility studies for new projects, as well as general consultation to existing or potential clients.

"I am committed to ensuring we deliver compassionate care that is tailored to meet each patient's unique treatment goals," said Cook. "We want to be a trusted partner in the communities we serve and help alleviate the emotional suffering of older adults."

Cook has held many psychiatric hospital leadership roles throughout his career, including executive director of the 100-bed ARH Hazard Psychiatric Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky. During his tenure, Cook made updates to care delivery and back-end processes for compliance with managed care in the Kentucky Medicaid program.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Cook earned a Master of Education in Community Counseling from Georgia State University.
