Nashville-based HCA Healthcare recently announced Brian Cook as president of HCA's Las Vegas-based Far West Division, effective May 1. Cook will fill the role currently held by HCA veteran Bryan Rogers who is retiring after nearly 20 years with the company. Cook, who has been with HCA for 15 years, is currently CEO of North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. In his new role, he will oversee operations for eight hospitals, nine surgery centers and numerous other outpatient locations in California and Nevada. Cook, who joined HCA in 2003 and has served in numerous hospital leadership roles in Florida and Tennessee, is a graduate of Florida State University and earned his MBA at Rollins College's Crummer Graduate School of Business.

Ravi Chari, MD

Ravi Chari, MD, has been named president of HCA's West Florida Division, effective May 1. Chari will assume leadership from Peter Marmerstein, who is retiring after almost 40 years in healthcare. Chari's new position has oversight of a comprehensive network of 16 hospitals with 21 ER locations, 14 surgery centers, 21 graduate medical education programs and a complete continuum of specialized health programs and services. Chari transitions to this new role after serving as senior vice president of Clinical Excellence. The surgeon began his tenure with HCA in 2008 as chief medical officer at Centennial Medical Center before being promoted to TriStar Division CMO. Previously, he was a professor of Surgery and chief of the Division of Liver Surgery and Transplantation at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Chari earned his medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine and completed his surgical residency at Duke University and fellowship at the University of Toronto. Chari also earned an MBA degree from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt.
