When provider organizations take on financial risk for the overall cost of care, they quickly discover that the physical well-being of their patients is inseparable from their mental well-being. Yet an alarming number of patients with psychiatric disorders receive no treatment, and many still do not have an ongoing relationship with a primary care physician.

Despite the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, barriers to care access are rampant. Many of the most innovative solutions to behavioral health problems remain unreimbursed.

At the August 25 issue briefing in Nashville, Modern Healthcare's Editor Emeritus Merrill Goozner will interview a panel of Tennessee's top healthcare executives to explore solutions to these pressing issues, including:

• How to find the resources to pay much-needed behavioral health specialists like social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists.
• Why enlisting primary care physicians in the fight against the nation's behavioral health crisis is crucial.
• What providers can do to help curb the opioid epidemic.
• How to overcome the stigma of a mental health diagnosis and promote patient engagement.
