In Case You Missed It

Veteran healthcare executive Buddy Bacon has joined ED management company American Physician Partners as COO. Most recently, Bacon was with CapStar Bank and before that held leadership roles at Meridian Surgical Partners, Medifax-EDI, and TractManager.

Mike Doyle is out as CEO of Nashville-based Surgery Partners but will remain as a director. Currently, veteran healthcare exec and former Symbion president Cliff Adlerz is serving as interim CEO while a national search is conducted for a replacement. Adlerz has also joined Surgery Partners' board.


Al Hamood

In late August, Al Hamood joined Change Healthcare as the company's CFO. Previously, he held the same position at TransUnion Corporation. Hamood succeeds the retiring Randy Giles at Change Healthcare.

Longtime CHS exec Robert Horrar recently joined Medical Facilities Corp. as COO.

Former Baker Donelson Health Law Group Chair Phil McSween joined Knoxville-based TeamHealth as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. The Health Law Group, which is now part of Baker Ober will be co-chaired by Ashby Burks in Nashville and Julie Kass in Baltimore/D.C.

Jim Lackey has stepped down as CEO of EnableComp but is staying on as chairman. David Jones, previously president of the workers' comp software company, has added the CEO role to his responsibilities.


Justin Coury, MHA

TriStar Centennial Medical Center announced Justin Coury, MHA as chief operating officer. Coury, who started his new role in Nashville last month, came to TriStar Centennial with six years of administrative leadership within HCA Healthcare hospitals, most recently serving as COO and ethics and compliance officer for Medical City Denton in Denton, Texas.

Investment firm KKR & Co. had a busy summer in Nashville, announcing purchases of both Covenant Surgical Partners and American Medical Response (AMR), Envision Healthcare's ambulance subsidiary, in August.

Nashville-based Virsys12 had a similarly busy summer with the acquisition of CRM Advantage, a Raleigh, N.C.-based consulting firm, and addition of several new team members in Nashville, Houston and Denver. Additionally, Brian Bell, previously managing partner of CRM Advantage, has joined Virsys12 as director of Client Services.
