Alicia Davis, RN, LNCC, President and CEO of ALN Consulting, a medical-legal consulting firm, announces the launch of a new business venture, Med Law Advisory Partners. The company will assist health care providers in identifying current opioid prescribing practices and developing prescribing protocols that will help improve care and mitigate risk for the organization.

Davis is a forensic nurse of 18 years and has experience working behind the scenes with both the government and those facing scrutiny by law enforcement and state medical boards. She is board certified in legal nurse consulting and is a member of the American and Nashville Bar Associations, and the Health Care Compliance Association.

According to the CDC, drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the US, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that more than 130 people die every day as a result of an opioid overdose.

"Opioid prescribing guidelines change daily, which makes it more complicated for physicians to properly care for patients who are suffering from chronic pain," says Davis. "My team and I have the knowledge and expertise to come in and work with physicians and health care organizations to provide the peace of mind to the organization that the right processes and protocols are in place and guidelines are followed."
