Nashville – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce the relocation of its Nashville office to 1222 Demonbreun at Gulch Union, a new U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Class A building in the city’s South Gulch neighborhood.

The relocation of EBG’s Nashville office will support the Firm’s continued growth in this important region. The move follows the recent addition of Christopher Dunn’s construction practice with a health care focus, which included partners Jeremy Oliver and Keith Randall from Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis and partner Carter DeLorme, an experienced employment litigator, from Jones Day. “It was important that our space met the needs of our attorneys as well as the high standards of our clients—many of whom are at the leading edge of construction and design,” said Steven Di Fiore, EBG’s Chief Operating Officer. “The building’s best-in-class amenities, combined with its LEED Silver rating and the Gulch’s first-in-the-South LEED Neighborhood Development designation, provides a perfect venue from which to serve our clients and meet our environmental responsibilities.”

In addition, EBG announces that health care transactional, insolvency, and restructuring attorney, and former Waller Chairman, John C. Tishler has joined as a Member of the Firm in Nashville. A growth-focused, seasoned law firm leader with deep connections to and throughout the Southeast, John will serve as a strategic advisor to further grow the firm’s presence in the area and meet the multidisciplinary needs of health care clients nationally.

“In John Tishler, EBG gains an attorney of the highest caliber with an outstanding and deserved reputation for pragmatic excellence and dedication to his clients,” said Mark E. Lutes, Chair of EBG’s Board of Directors. “His lifelong commitment to Nashville and greater Tennessee is a perfect fit for our Nashville office, and John’s ability to listen to the needs of clients and align EBG’s myriad resources to provide strong solutions will be a tremendous asset to our client base.”

John also brings more than 30 years of experience facilitating complex strategic transactions for hospitals, health systems, and health care companies, and their financial advisors and lenders. He counsels both creditors and debtors in high-value bankruptcy proceedings, with a strong focus on clients in the health care industry. He served as Waller’s Chairman from 2008 to 2014.

“Epstein Becker Green’s national footprint combined with its intentional focus within the health care industry presents an opportunity to work closely with health care regulatory lawyers nationwide—with an established and respected presence in Washington, D.C and roots in New York—who are perfectly suited to assist in navigating regulatory and policy issues,” said Tishler. “Plus, the opportunity to rejoin some of my former colleagues in a new and vibrant context, serve as an EBG ambassador in Nashville, and help further communicate EBG’s value proposition nationwide, was one I could not leave on the table.”

An ardent pro bono advocate with deep compassion for others, John has been listed on the Tennessee Bar Association’s Pro Bono Honor Roll eight times. He was recently honored by the Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) as a 2022 Hall of Fame Honoree for his efforts to help TJC clients and for having served on TJC’s Board of Directors. He has also served as the Campaign Chair for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands’ annual Campaign for Equal Justice. He currently serves on the board of directors of Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary, is chairman of the Belmont College of Law Advisory Board and will begin a term as chairman of the Elsine Katz Foundation in January 2023.

Nashville’s role as a premier health care industry leader and one of the fastest-growing economic centers in the United States has made it a crucial destination for EBG and its 50 years of experience in health care, life sciences, employment law, and litigation. John’s addition comes after the Firm announced earlier this year the establishment of its health care construction practice, which includes several former Waller attorneys, and after the addition of employment litigator M. Carter DeLorme from Jones Day. The firm’s growing Nashville and Southeast presence has necessitated a relocation to 1222 Demonbreun in the Gulch.

“It’s important that our team in Nashville grows as fast as Nashville itself, and reuniting with John Tishler is a key component of that strategy,” said Christopher S. Dunn, a Member of the Firm at EBG and leader of EBG’s health care construction team. “From collaborating with John for over 20 years, I know that his standard for excellence and insistence on serving the community, along with his dedication to mentoring the next generation of legal talent, is an absolute match for EBG’s Nashville office and the firm overall.”

“The neighborhood acts as a gateway to the biggest players in the Nashville market,” said Christopher Dunn, a Member of the Firm in EBG’s Nashville office. “And 1222 Demonbreun offers quick access to major health systems to the east, an easy 15-minute trip to the commercial center of Cool Springs, and close proximity to I-65.”

“The South Gulch is a premier location and perfect environment for our Nashville team,” said Julie Lampley, a Member of the Firm in EBG’s Health Care & Life Sciences practice in Nashville. “It provides all of the benefits Nashville has to offer, from its walkability to its vibrant social scene, while also supplying a central and easily accessible location from which to serve our clients. The move also offered EBG the opportunity to donate the furniture used in our temporary space to Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc.”

The attorneys in EBG’s Nashville office cover all of the Firm’s core practices, from health care, life sciences, and litigation to employment and workforce management, and they are grounded in the area through civic and cultural associations. The Firm has long supported clients in the Nashville region and is proud that its attorneys have been selected to serve on the boards of prominent organizations, such as the Nashville Health Care Council of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, the Nashville Bar Association, Life Science Tennessee, and other impactful business and industry groups.
