Nashville General Hospital (NGH), a national leading public safety-net hospital, announced that Veronica Elders, MBA, MSN, RN and CNO of NGH, was named a “CNO to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review. Ms. Elders was one of only 153 CNOs across the country chosen for this very prestigious award. The honor was celebrated by Becker’s with the following accolades:

“Ms. Elders is Nashville General Hospital's CNO, providing clinical, strategic, and fiduciary leadership for the direction of overall nursing operations. Since joining NGH as CNO three years ago, Ms. Elders has rebuilt the clinical nursing leadership team, adapting them to a "team nursing" model involving LPNs back into the hospital setting and allowing for necessary patient care during the height of COVID-19. She also leads her team with a chronic care model and care transitions approach, ensuring patients with chronic conditions receive continuous care and education for the best outcomes. Ms. Elders has been with NGH since 2015, and previously served in a variety of leadership roles including the director of emergency services, administrative director of patient throughput, and assistant CNO.”

Prior to joining Nashville General Hospital, Elders served 17 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. A Nashville native, Elders earned her MBA in Healthcare from Western Governors University. She also holds a master of nursing degree from Loyola University New Orleans and serves as an Adjunct Faculty in the bachelor of nursing program at Lipscomb University.

"As Nashville General Hospital continues to address health equity and access to care, it is an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Nashville,” said Elders. “Though we may be a small hospital, our impact is significant. I have immense pride in my nursing team, who consistently provide exceptional care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. We take care of our patients and each other like family. Each nurse on our team is more than an employee— they are a driving force, genuinely impacting our patients’ lives every day."
