NASHVILLE – Ascension Saint Thomas Foundation hosted the 31st Good Health Classic Golf Tournament, a premier annual charity golf event at the Golf Club of Tennessee. Some 110 people participated in this event to raise money and awareness for the launch of a new Ascension Saint Thomas Advanced Learning Center for Nursing Education, a destination designed to support partnerships with over a dozen local schools of nursing, ensuring future health care professionals receive high-quality training in a state-of-the-art learning facility.
The tournament brought together business and civic leaders, donors, physician groups, health insurers, and golf enthusiasts from throughout the community for competitive fun to support the mission of Ascension Saint Thomas.
This year’s classic raised a record of nearly $300,000 in support of the Advanced Learning Center for Nursing Education, which will be housed at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West.
Past tournaments have helped elevate health care standards and support various health care initiatives throughout Tennessee. These projects include the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, renovations of the Seton Lodge and hospital chapels, medical technology enhancements, new care sites for vulnerable communities, and more. These contributions have made a lasting impact on the lives of countless families and communities. Since its inception in 1992, this event has raised over $7 million, which has helped to shape health care throughout the region.
“The new Ascension Saint Thomas Advanced Learning Center for Nursing Education integrates cutting-edge technology allowing students to engage in dynamic educational opportunities, including live medical procedures streamed from our operating rooms and procedural centers, as well as access to complex clinical nursing units to provide authentic exposure to the care environment,” said Fahad Tahir, president and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas. “Our clinical leaders have designed a destination learning experience that promises students relevant training and simulation exposure to prepare them to provide the very best care for their future patients.”
Some notable and distinguished sponsors include Lifepoint Health, Nashville Machine Company and Turner Construction as this year’s Tournament Sponsor, which contributed $25,000 to the cause. The success of the Good Health Classic is a testament to the dedication of the sponsors, participants and volunteers who come together to continue the philanthropic legacy of the tournament.
“We are grateful to our donors and community partners for coming together to have fun and compete at Good Health Classic in support of Ascension Saint Thomas’ mission to expand nursing education to allow for expansion of care and service to Middle Tennessee,” said Nathan Hines, Turner Construction, tournament sponsor.
The new Advanced Learning Center for Nursing Education will be housed at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West, and groundbreaking is planned for October 2023.
