For the 10th year, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt has received the honor of being named among the nation’s leaders in pediatric health care by U.S. News & World Report in their annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. Again this year, Children’s Hospital achieved a maximum of 10 out of 10 nationally ranked pediatric specialty programs, and was the only pediatric hospital in Tennessee to receive this distinction. Pediatric Urology ranked in the No. 4 spot nationally this year. Among the other pediatric specialties, six moved up in the rankings. Cancer improved from 30th to 18th; Gastroenterology & GI Surgery moved up from 32nd to 22nd; Nephrology improved from 42nd to 30th; Neurology & Neurosurgery moved from 15th to 12th; Cardiology & Heart Surgery went from 20th to 19th; and Neonatology moved up from 27th to 26th. Other specialties ranked this year: Orthopaedics (14); Pulmonology (17); Diabetes & Endocrinology (25).

Mia Levy, MD, PhD, Ingram Assistant Professor of Cancer Research and director of Cancer Health Informatics and Strategy at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, has been named a Komen Scholar by the Susan G. Komen organization. Levy is among 15 other leaders in breast cancer research and advocacy who will join the international advisory group to help guide Komen’s research and scientific programs, education and public health efforts in the U.S. and abroad.

The Buffkin Group – a leading national retained search firm – moved up four spots to No. 20 in the nation on Modern Healthcare’s Largest Healthcare Executive Search Firms 2015 list, and is ranked as the No. 1 firm in Nashville. It is the only Tennessee search firm making the Top 20.

In recently released results, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Five-Star Quality Rating System recognized Home Care Solutions with a 4-star rating in patient satisfaction.  According to the data, the Nashville home health provider achieved the highest rating possible in the patient satisfaction category.

Caroline Young has joined the Cumberland Pharmaceuticals Board of Directors. Young, the former president of the Nashville Health Care Council and founding executive director of the Tennessee Biotechnology Association, is now executive director of NashvilleHealth.

Life Care Center of Hickory Woods, a skilled nursing and rehab facility in Antioch, Tennessee, recently received the 2016 Bronze National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.
