On February 11 & 12, 2020, former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, MD released a special A Second Opinion podcast episodes on the 2019 novel coronavirus.

In Tuesday's episode, Senator Frist shared his experience from 2003 when he was on the ground in China during the SARS outbreak (another strain of coronavirus), and answered questions on the 2019 novel coronavirus's transmissibility, lethality, and origin.

On Wednesday, he sat down with Dr. Jay Butler, Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Butler has had extensive experience with serious global outbreaks. He directed CDC's 2009 H1N1 pandemic vaccine task force, which achieved emergency vaccination of more than 80 million Americans. Dr Butler's update included what the public needs to know about this new strain of coronavirus, how it's behaving differently from other strains, and where we are in developing a vaccine.
